Predictions

The Golfing Gazette writers predict who they think will walk away with the BMW Championship title and grand cash prize:

Jordan Harris: “With the PGA Tour returning to Castle Pines for the first time since 2006, the knowledge Wyndham Clark has of the Colorado course could be absolutely crucial, with the 2023 US Open champion well aware of the challenges which lie ahead. Of course, he has not always shown his best form this year, but he has finished in the top 20 in four of his last five starts worldwide.”

Sam Stone: “Viktor Hovland has been up and down this season and I am banking on the playoffs being another peak for the Norwegian. He won the BMW last year and performed well at the St Jude last week. Hovland likes playoff season and he could be playing himself into form at exactly the right time – he’s my pick at Castle Pines this week.”

James Shearman: “Besides the Olympics, where he withdrew with a thumb injury, Matt Fitzpatrick has been in solid form this summer. He has made the cut in his last six tournaments and finished 18th at the recent St Jude Championship. The Englishman also has the added motivation of needing a strong performance to secure his place at next week’s Tour Championship – he is currently 36th in the FedEx Cup standings.”

Peter Lynch: “It’s an easy road to go down, but I just think Xander Schauffele is going to continue his superb momentum into Castle Pines and come out on top. He’s had a stunning season so far, but it may just get better yet, with a win at the BMW set to really threaten Scottie Scheffler’s FedExCup title hopes.”
