Xander Schauffele continued his remarkable cut streak on the PGA Tour after narrowly making the weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Playing just his second event of 2025, Schauffele faced an uphill battle after carding a first-round 77. After making three early birdies on day two, Schauffele appeared on course to make a 58th consecutive cut.

However, back-to-back double bogeys on 11 and 12 saw the American jump back outside the cut line. Thankfully, he carded three more birdies to finish one shot inside the cut line.

Schauffele’s cut streak is the longest since Tiger Woods made the weekend at 142 consecutive events between 1998 and 2005.

During his post-round press conference, Schuaffele was asked about Woods’ record.

“It’s definitely — it’s a cool thing,” Schauffele said. “I try really hard to not quit. Even today, going double, double sitting in a really nice spot, it was an easy time to get frustrated. But I said earlier in the week, I’m going to have to go to a special place to play decent golf, and I had to dig deep.

“So it was good practice on that front. Austin and I are proud of our cut streak, no doubt. Is it what we think about? No. But usually, when you focus on winning, you make a lot of cuts and end up somewhere in between.”

Xander Schauffele injury latest

Schauffele returned to competitive golf in the TGL last week and has certainly picked a testing event to make his PGA Tour comeback.

Strong winds, heavy rough and tricky greens have made Bay Hill a real challenge this week. Considering the lack of competitive golf under his belt, Schauffele will be thrilled to have made the weekend.

Schauffele delivered a positive injury update after round one, and it appears the American’s side strain is well on the way to being fully recovered.

The reigning Open champ felt the issue towards the end of 2024 but still opted to play the season curtain-raiser at The Sentry. In hindsight, Schauffele teeing it up in Maui was a bad idea.
