Xander Schauffele continued his run of made cuts as he produced a much better second round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to make it into the weekend.
Schauffele had said he was feeling good after injury after his opening round saw him sit at five under par.
Despite the good feeling, his form in round one was way off what we’ve become accustomed to seeing in recent times.
Still, Schauffele fought hard on day two and he produced a much better round to card a one-under 71 and ensure he snuck into the weekend.
However, despite being into the final two rounds, Schauffele admitted he’s still producing some bad golf in certain situations.

Xander Schauffele highlights what was bad about his game in round two of the Arnold Palmer
Despite producing a round under par to get into the weekend action, the world number two was still not overly happy with some elements of his game.
Indeed, speaking to the media, Schauffele admitted that he’d produced some bad shots, especially around the greens.
“I kind of had it going for a bit, was playing some really good golf and hit some nice shots, actually made some putts,” Schauffele said.
“But then you know, kind of messed up some really easy things. Took on maybe too much risk, one really bad swing, and then some really bad execution around the greens as well. It was a very stressful but nice day for me.”
Xander Schauffele’s historic cut streak second only to Tiger Woods
Xander Schauffele is known for being one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour and his run of now 58 made cuts is the most made since Tiger Woods.
He does, of course, have a long way to go before matching Woods. The 15-time major winner managed a record 142 between 1998 and 2005.
Still, it’s a proud record for Schauffele to have, albeit he also has some work to do to catch up with those second to Tiger overall.
| Consecutive cuts made | Player |
| 142 | Tiger Woods |
| 113 | Byron Nelson |
| 105 | Jack Nicklaus |
| 72 | Dow Finsterwald |
| 58 | Xander Schauffele |
Clearly, Schauffele is not going to be winning at Bay Hill this week but it’s all about extra reps after injury and he’ll be hoping to be as fine tuned as possible ahead of The Players and then, The Masters.
