Xander Schauffele has finally broken his silence after winning The Open Championship at Royal Troon.

The two-time major winner has kept a low profile since lifting the Claret Jug on Sunday. Schauffele carded a stunning six-under 65 to pip Justin Rose and Billy Horschel to the final major of the year.

Rose, speaking after his final round, pinpointed four ‘weapons’ within Schauffele’s game, which helped him land his first Open Championship.

Mark Fulcher, Rose’s caddie, claimed he was in awe of the American’s final round after watching him up close at The Open.

Schauffele appears to be a reasonably laid-back character, and he’s kept himself to himself since winning his second major.

However, on Wednesday evening, The Champion Golfer of the Year posted a message on X.

“What an incredible experience,” he wrote. A special victory since I had my family here with me. A big thank you to @TheOpen, my team, and my sponsors! I couldn’t have done it without you!”

Xander Schauffele must capitalise with more majors

Schauffele is currently playing his best-ever golf, and he must capitalise once the 2025 major championship season begins.

Some of the world’s best have won majors in quick succession before going winless for several years.

Rory McIlroy, for example, won all of his four major championships before 2015. Since then, he’s gone ten years empty-handed.

It was a similar story for Jordan Spieth, who won three major championships in a two-year period before going on the struggle.

Schauffele could well be at the peak of his performance and might not get a better chance to land a green jacket when the 2025 Masters gets underway in April.
