Justin Rose’s caddie Mark Fulcher has shed light on Xander Schauffele’s Open Championship performance after watching him up close during the final round.
The American’s near-perfect 65 was enough to land him his second major championship of 2024 after he captured his maiden title at Valhalla back in May.
Schauffele’s success has seen golf fans compare the 30-year-old’s season to Scottie Scheffler’s, with the world number one picking up six wins thus far.
Rose, after playing alongside Schauffele, has now suggested the American is among the game’s elite players.

Speaking to MyGolfSpy, Fulcher spoke of his admiration for Schauffele and admitted it was nice to watch the American close-up.
“When you see a round that good, you take your hat off,” he explained.
“He didn’t put a foot wrong,” Fulcher added. “It was nice to be able to watch it and not have to buy a ticket because it was fantastic.”
Justin Rose’s 2025 major championship hopes given a massive boost
Rose appeared magnanimous in defeat on Sunday. There was an understanding that the better man beat him. Upon starting his final round, the Englishman wouldn’t have anticipated shooting 67 and not lifting the Claret Jug.
Despite coming close, the 43-year-old has given himself a massive boost regarding next year’s major championships.
Rose is now 34th in the world, an enormous 33 places up from this time last week.
Furthermore, Rose is now 52nd in the FedEx Cup standings and should make the playoffs, which will soon be underway after the Wyndham Championship.
