Adam Scott continued his excellent recent form with a top-ten finish at the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon.
The Aussie played his way back into contention with a five-under-par 66 on Saturday but couldn’t quite build the same momentum during his final 18.
Xander Schauffele, of course, was the man to lift the Claret Jug after a faultless final round – and the American has become the talk of the golfing world since landing his second major title.
Justin Rose, who came T2, has claimed Schauffele is as good as the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, and golf fans around the world are debating whether the 2024 Open winner has now had a better season than Scheffler.
Adam Scott weighs in on Xander Schauffele debate

Speaking to MyGolfSpy, Scott has claimed Schauffele’s cool and composed persona is one of the main reasons behind his success.
“He gives off that cool persona for sure, and I think that’s a good lesson (for other players),” said the Aussie.
Scott went on to shed light on the American’s is actually like behind the scenes.
“But I wouldn’t say he doesn’t work hard at the game. I think he works incredibly hard at it,” he added. “Xander is pretty cruisy. But when you’re really prepared, I think that’s how you can be when you’re playing. I think he is being himself. That’s why he’s getting good results.”
Xander Schauffele breaks $15million mark after 2024 Open win
Schauffele’s win at The Open has taken his season earnings over the $15million mark.
With his impressive PGA Tour form and PGA Championship win at Valhalla, the 30-year-old has now banked a staggering $15,867,160 since the turn of the year.
To put this into context, 27% of Schauffele’s career earnings came during the 2024 season, nine years after his debut in 2015.
There’s now a strong argument to suggest the two-time major winner has put together the most impressive 2024 thus far.
The world’s best players are judged by major championships, and Schauffele has landed them with relative ease since the turn of the year.
