The PGA Tour has travelled to Colorado for the second FedEx Cup playoff event at Castle Pines Golf Club in Denver.
The BMW Championship will host the FedEx Cup top 50 before the field for the season-ending Tour Championship is confirmed.
Castle Pines will be the longest course in PGA Tour history, with the Denver venue measuring 8,130 yards. However, due to the high altitude, the world’s best players should see their stock yardages increase by around 12%.
Despite much of the talk centring around dialling yardages, Will Zalatoris highlighted why this year’s BMW Championship course is so special.

Speaking to the Golf Channel on Tuesday, Zalatoris claimed the PGA Tour needs to start visiting Denver more regularly.
“I mean, Denver got so many good golf courses, and this is a market we need to tap into. This place is special,” Zalatoris said.
The American went on to suggest the 16th hole is similar to the same hole at Augusta National.
“The water features, landscaping and the periphery,” he added. “You know it’s a 12/10. It’s a hike, there’s no question about that, but it’s a special, special place, and you can tell it’s got some similarities to Muirfield, obviously with Jack designing it. One par-three kind of mimics Augusta. 16 is sort of similar to 16, except it’s about 75 yards longer. This is everything we want.”
Will Zalatoris needs a big week to make the Tour Championship at East Lake
Zalatoris desperately needs a big performance at this week’s BMW Championship if he’s to book his spot at East Lake next week. The 28-year-old currently sits 37th in the standings and will need a lot of pieces to fall into place if he’s to make it to Atlanta.
However, his recent performance at the St Jude Championship does provide reason to be optimistic. Zalatoris finished T12 on nine under and managed to give his FedEx Cup ranking a minor boost.
The American’s positive performance at TPC Southwind came after he had missed three cuts in a row, including The Open and Scottish Open.
Furthermore, before he headed to the UK, Zalatoris withdrew from the Rochet Mortgage Classic at the halfway stage.
