Scottie Scheffler has continued his stunning career success by winning the PGA Championship, representing his third major win.
And now, Scheffler has been backed for the career grand slam after triumphing at Quail Hollow in North Carolina.
He has already won The Masters on two occasions, with Scheffler now on 15 PGA Tour victories at the age of 28.
The American has also cemented his status as world number one after winning his maiden PGA Championship title.
And he is wasting no time in his search for further glory, with Scheffler taking on the Charles Schwab Challenge this week.

PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler told he is doing something ‘really special’
He headlines the field at Colonial Country Club, with his current major trend having been compared to spells from other players over the years by Claude Harmon and sportscaster Steve Sands.
Speaking on the Son of a Butch podcast, Sands commented: “Here is what makes me think he can sustain this.
| Year | Tournament | 54 holes | Margin | Runner(s)-up |
| 2022 | The Masters | 3 shot lead | 3 strokes | Rory McIlroy |
| 2024 | The Masters | 1 shot lead | 4 strokes | Ludvig Aberg |
| 2025 | PGA Championship | 3 shot lead | 5 strokes | Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, Davis Riley |
| 2025 | The Open | 4 shot lead | 4 strokes | Harris English |
“Rory [McIlroy] I guess from 2011-14 had this. But not Nick [Price] and not Jordan [Spieth]. If he doesn’t win, he is top eight every time.
“There is no missed cut, tied for 47, win, tie for 11th, tie for fourth, tied for 29th, win. It’s win, eight, sixth, fourth, win, win, third, ninth, sixth. It’s nuts!
“His consistency is beyond belief and I really do think that we are, without being premature about it, we are looking at something really special in Scottie.”
Claude Harmon questions Scottie Scheffler critics after PGA Championship win
As Sands alluded to, there have been simply unstoppable spells from a handful of top golfers over the years.
McIlroy won four majors in four years before completing the career grand slam at The Masters last month.
Both Spieth and Price meanwhile clinched their three major wins in three seasons, with Padraig Harrington securing the same number in two seasons.
Scheffler is now seemingly in his era, although his three major successes have come across a four-year spell.
Importantly, he doesn’t exactly look like slowing down anytime soon, which should worry his fellow professionals.
Sharing his take on the world number one, Harmon said: “I think the worst finish he has this year is 22nd or 25th.
| Tournament | Position | Total | To par |
| AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am | T9 | 273 | -15 |
| WM Phoenix Open | T25 | 275 | -9 |
| The Genesis Invitational | T3 | 279 | -9 |
| Arnold Palmer Invitational | T11 | 284 | -4 |
| The Players Championship | T20 | 284 | -4 |
| Texas Children’s Houston Open | T2 | 261 | -19 |
| The Masters | 4 | 280 | -8 |
| RBC Heritage | T8 | 272 | -12 |
| THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson | 1 | 253 | -31 |
| PGA Championship | 1 | 273 | -11 |
“And if you look at the stats from last week, he is first in total strokes gained, fifth off the tee, 14th in approach, fifth around the greens. Tee to green he’s number one. 23rd in putting.
“There was a time a couple of years ago when guys were saying he’s a bad putter. I’m like he’s won 18 times in three years, how the hell can you be a bad putter?”
