Scottie Scheffler has taken one step closer to completing the career grand slam after winning the PGA Championship.
Scheffler has been compared to Tiger Woods after his success at Quail Hollow, where he added the PGA Championship to his trophy cabinet.
It is the first time Scheffler has won this major championship, with his other two major wins both coming at The Masters.
Ryan Lavner thinks Scheffler can play much better, with wins at the US Open and The Open Championship likely next up on his agenda.
The former takes place at Oakmont Country Club next month, with the latter then set for Royal Portrush in July.

Peter Finch predicts when Scottie Scheffler can complete the career grand slam
Scheffler now has 15 PGA Tour wins to his name, with Peter Finch now predicting when the three-time major champion can complete the career grand slam.
“If he carries on the way he is at the moment you would probably say within two years,” he said on The Rough Cut Golf Podcast.

“I mean, the one he has struggled at is The Open. But I don’t know – I think his approach play and the way he can flight it. He has every shot.
“He is so good that he should be able to win them all. I don’t really see why he couldn’t but it is hard! It’s a very difficult thing to do.
| Year | Tournament | 54 holes | Margin | Runner(s)-up |
| 2022 | The Masters | 3 shot lead | 3 strokes | Rory McIlroy |
| 2024 | The Masters | 1 shot lead | 4 strokes | Ludvig Aberg |
| 2025 | PGA Championship | 3 shot lead | 5 strokes | Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English, Davis Riley |
| 2025 | The Open | 4 shot lead | 4 strokes | Harris English |
“If he doesn’t win it, he will still go down as world number one, he will probably be for the rest of this year.
“He has probably been world number one for two years. He is still going to go down as one of the greatest players.”
Will Scottie Scheffler be the next player to complete the career grand slam?
Talk of the career grand slam was heavy just last month, when Rory McIlroy achieved the feat at The Masters.
He joined legendary figures Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods with the win at Augusta National.
And while Scheffler is by no means the closest to achieving the feat next in terms of his current wins, it would be foolish to rule it out.
Both Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson are just one win away from the career grand slam, but they appear to be some way off after they both missed the cut at the PGA Championship.
Three-time major winner Spieth only needs the PGA Championship to go down in golfing folklore, with six-time major winner Mickelson needing to win the US Open.
Scheffler is two wins away, but given his form, the world number one may be quietly confident of getting over the line sooner rather than later.
The American came closest to US Open success in 2022, when he finished T2 at The Country Club, one shot behind champion Matt Fitzpatrick.
Success at The Open Championship has, however, been further away, with Scheffler’s best result coming via a T7 finish at Royal Troon last year.
