Scottie Scheffler has clinched the third major championship win of his career at the PGA Championship, with his other two wins having come at The Masters.

Peter Finch thinks Scheffler can win the career grand slam after seeing him triumph at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

The world number one secured a five-shot win in North Carolina, with Harris English, Davis Love and Bryson DeChambeau tying for third.

Scheffler shocked Rex Hoggard en route to the PGA Championship title, his second PGA Tour win of 2025.

It comes after he emerged victorious at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, which Scheffler won by eight shots earlier this month.

Scottie Scheffler recalls ‘amazing’ shot he hit at The Masters in 2022

Scheffler is now a 15-time PGA Tour winner, and has been sharing insight into his first major triumph at The Masters in 2022.

Speaking in a documentary for Rolex, he said of his final round at Augusta that year: “I remember being really nervous to start the day.

“I got off to a pretty bad start. On number three I had hit a high hook. I went to Teddy [Scott] ‘dude what the heck is going on out here?’

“I think sometimes when you are in the moment, it seems like it’s the only thing that matters. But I reminded myself ‘listen man, remember why I go out there to go and play. To glorify God and just enjoy the day’.

“I end up chipping in there. On number five I hit an amazing iron shot. It was a shot which nobody else would notice but I hit the shot exactly how I wanted to. And I just played solid golf from there on out.”

Why Scottie Scheffler smiled more after four-putting to win The Masters

Golf fans and indeed players have since found it impossible to ignore the American, with Scheffler dominating the PGA Tour in recent times.

He hasn’t been budged from the world number one spot, and is set to continue winning more and more majors in the very near future.

The Masters 2022 final leaderboard

Scheffler edged past Rory McIlroy by three shots to win his first green jacket, with Ludvig Aberg then beaten by four shots as the American clinched a second in 2024.

He has continued that gradual trend with his five-shot win at the PGA Championship, which may just be a worry for his fellow professionals.

Scheffler also looked back on the final hole during that famous final day at Augusta three years ago, saying of the 18th: “I had a five-shot lead and hit the green in two and I was like ‘okay I can figure out how to get it in in seven putts’.

“I end up four putting and that got me to smile more because it was a funny thing but at the end of the day it was pretty awesome.”
