The ongoing saga between Jon Rahm and the DP World Tour has taken another twist today.

Rahm moved to LIV Golf in a huge deal last year and has since been at loggerheads with the DP World Tour over his participation in certain events.

The Tour has imposed heavy fines on Rahm and other players, like Tyrrell Hatton and Lee Westwood.

That, in turn, impacts their ability to qualify for the Ryder Cup in 2025.

Of course, the story with Rahm is in the limelight more due to his status as one of the best golfers in the world and Justin Rose recently encouraged Rahm to do all he could to be available.

However, DP officials had spoken out on Rahm being ineligible for the upcoming Spanish Open, despite the former Masters champ admitting he’d registered to take part.

But now, in another twist, Rahm has taken steps to ensure he can indeed play his part in the Spanish Open.

Jon Rahm takes action to ensure he can play in the Spanish Open

According to BBC Sport, Rahm has now taken steps to try and ensure he’s available for the next few events at least.

Quoting a DP World Tour official, it has been confirmed that Rahm has lodged an appeal over his fines to ensure he can play the upcoming events.

“Jon Rahm has a pending appeal against sanctions imposed on him and in accordance with the DP World Tour’s regulations, he is eligible to participate in the Open de Espana,” the statement says.

Rahm is believed to owe over $1m in fines but has so far refused to engage in paying those fines back.

Tyrrell Hatton has also taken those same steps and is currently in an appeal process which means he’s also eligible for events.

Quite whether this sustains until the Ryder Cup in 2025, remains to be seen.
