Rory McIlroy continues to have one eye on the future of the PGA Tour as he prepares to get going at the Irish Open.
McIlroy has been a loyal PGA Tour member, with the four-time major winner constantly voicing his thoughts about the breakaway LIV Golf tour.
In an attempt to form an alliance, the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) – which funds LIV – signed a framework agreement last summer.
But 15 months have passed since that framework agreement, which had a deadline that expired last December.
Justin Rose is hopeful of an agreement, and it seems that the PGA Tour star may just get his way in the near future due to the ongoing talks in New York.

What does Rory McIlroy want the PGA Tour and the PIF to talk about?
Tiger Woods and Adam Scott are among the PGA Tour representatives in discussions with the PIF regarding a $1billion injection into PGA Tour Enterprises from the Saudi investment fund.
The PGA-LIV talks will last multiple days, with McIlroy now sharing his wishes for those discussions in New York.
“I think everyone in the game would love there to be one [a resolution],” McIlroy told BBC Sport Northern Ireland.
“A solution is hard to get to because there are different interests and people want different things. There’s going to have to be compromise on both sides but hopefully they’re the things they’re talking about in those meetings.
“I’m hopeful and hopefully we’ll be hearing some good news in the foreseeable future where things start to come back together.”
Rory McIlroy must put the PGA Tour to one side at the Irish Open
It remains to be seen what the outcome of the latest talks will be, with the PGA Tour and the PIF not exactly seeing eye-to-eye when it comes to the future of golf.
A solution would undoubtedly be good for the game and all those involved, with McIlroy just one player wanting a swift plan of action.

In the meantime, however, he is focusing on the DP World Tour, with the four-time major champion back home for the Irish Open.
McIlroy heads into the event at Royal County Down on the back of his T9 Tour Championship finish at East Lake, with Scottie Scheffler dominating the headlines with his FedExCup victory.
But McIlroy will now be the main point of interest in Northern Ireland, with fans certain to come out in huge numbers to witness the multiple major champion in action, at what is unquestionably one of the best courses in the world.
