The PGA Tour and LIV Golf continue to be at odds with each other as the 2024 season comes to conclusion.

Scottie Scheffler closed out the PGA Tour season with a win at the Tour Championship, while LIV Golf events in Chicago and Dallas remain for the current year.

The two tours reached a framework agreement once upon a time, but players and indeed golf fans seemingly remain in the dark about what comes next.

LIV Golf will compete directly with the PGA Tour following the announcement of its early season schedule for 2025.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan remains fully focused on his own tour, with the 2025 FedExCup Season schedule having been announced last month.

Justin Rose provides PGA Tour and LIV Golf relationship update

An interesting update has certainly taken place in the last few days, with a December match-up between PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars announced.

Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will take on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koekpa, with PGA Tour star Justin Rose sharing his thoughts on the encounter and indeed the wider situation.

Asked if relationships between PGA Tour and LIV Tour golfers are generally less awkward than they were one year ago, Rose told Sky Sports: “Yeah I think time softens everything for sure, and I think listen if it’s going to be good for the game of golf then I’m all about coming back together.

“Just from my point personally, I don’t see it, I haven’t heard any news, I don’t know exactly where we’re going with it, I don’t know what the vehicle is for us all to kind of compromise and come back together, I don’t really know what the product looks like.

“Hopefully people smarter than me are figuring it out behind the scenes, but news is slow forthcoming.”

More PGA Tour and LIV Golf crossover expected in 2025

Rose is clearly eager for the two tours to not only find a solution to the stalemate, but one as quickly as possible.

But that seems unlikely at this moment in time, particularly with the early 2025 LIV events clashing with the PGA Tour schedule.

But just as there was crossover this year, such as in the Olympics and in the majors, further crossover is expected in 2025.

PGA Tour stars did, however, get the better of their LIV counterparts this year, with Scottie Scheffler winning the Masters and Olympic gold as Xander Schauffele won the PGA Championship and The Open.

But DeChambeau will be keen to defend his US Open title next time around, while there is also the small matter of the Ryder Cup, in which LIV players will be eager to take part.
