PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan has been working hard behind the scenes in preparation for the new season.
The current PGA Tour season comes to a close this week at the Tour Championship, hosted by East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia.
LIV Golf meanwhile is preparing for LIV Golf Chicago next month, which will be followed by LIV Golf Dallas.
It will soon be crunch time for many of the star names on the breakaway tour, which has relegations for those finishing the standings in 49th place and below.
In danger of the dreaded drop this year are the likes of Branden Grace, Laurie Canter and Kieran Vincent among others.

Jay Monahan says if relegated LIV Golfers can return to the PGA Tour
PGA Tour Commissioner Monahan has now discussed the current situation with LIV, with the DP World Tour having pathways back for relegated players and others with their contracts expiring.
When asked if the PGA Tour is having a similar discussion in a Tour Championship press conference, Monahan responded: “As I said earlier, we’ve announced our 2025 schedule. We’re continuing to focus on what we control, moving forward with the great system that we have in place.
“As it relates to any details of the conversations that we’re having with the Public Investment Fund, I’m not going to disclose details. I’m not going to get into specifics.
“But I will tell you when you look at what has happened on the PGA Tour over the last couple of years, to think about PGA Tour University, to now have 20 players that have access to the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour, to have these new and emerging stars, some of whom are still in college, like Luke Clanton, earning points and demonstrating to the world that they’re coming and that they’re capable of competing at the highest level, to the strength that we see at the Korn Ferry Tour, to the path that we have at the DP World Tour and our great alliance there, and those 10 players have come this way, three of whom have made it into the FedExCup Playoffs.
“The system that we have, which extends to the international tours around the world, is really performing at a really high level, and that’s what we’re excited about.”
What is the current situation between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf?
The PGA Tour and LIV Golf announced a framework agreement last summer, but the cooperation has seemingly ended there.
No timeline is in place for a merger between the rival tours, which have moved on at their own pace this year.
There has, of course, been a crossover, notably when LIV star Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open earlier this summer.
The Ryder Cup also comes into the conversation, with LIV’s Tyrrell Hatton set to play two more DP World Tour events before the season concludes in order to boost his chances of a Team Europe spot.
Luke Donald will once again captain Team Europe in New York next September, with Keegan Bradley set to lead the hosts.
