There appears to be a possibility that LIV Golf may suffer one of their biggest setbacks yet, with reports casting doubt over Brooks Koepka’s future with the league.
While LIV Golf has not managed to sustain the momentum they built in their first few years, it did appear that the league crucially retained the support of their superstar players.
What would the impact of Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf be?
Dustin Johnson is staying put, while there has not been much speculation regarding the future of a number of their biggest names.
But that has changed now, with reports suggesting that Brooks Koepka may not play on LIV in 2026. The five-time major champion’s contract expires at the end of the upcoming season.
How Brooks Koepka can secure his LIV Golf exit before the 2026 season
According to the Sports Business Journal, there is a chance that Koepka could sit out the season on LIV. He would still be able to play in the majors, as well as on the DP World Tour.
It remains to be seen whether Koepka will indeed leave. But it should perhaps be noted that SBJ were the first outlet to report that Laurie Canter was set to return to LIV. His move to Majesticks has now been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Flushing It have added further information, noting that Koepka is widely believed to be unhappy on LIV. And they have reported what it would take for the 35-year-old to avoid playing in 2026.
According to their sources, Koepka would have to pay back a considerable amount of money to end his contract early.
“It’s not difficult to find someone willing to tell you that Brooks is unhappy at LIV Golf. But, he is still under contract through the end of the 2026 season and sources indicate he would need to pay back a lot of money to terminate that early,” they write.
What Greg Norman said when LIV Golf announced the signing of Brooks Koepka in 2022
Koepka has an important place in LIV’s history. He was one of the superstar names to make the jump from the PGA Tour in 2022.
While his form was a concern at the time, he subsequently proved that he had a lot to contribute.
Koepka has won five LIV events during his career, while he became the first player to win a major while attached to the league.
Greg Norman‘s comments when Koepka signed certainly tell their own story.
“There’s no understating the impact that Brooks Koepka has had on the game of golf in the last five years,” he said.
“He carries a championship pedigree and record of success as one of the most elite players in the world.
“The addition of Brooks is yet another example of the incredible fields LIV Golf is assembling as we build momentum in our first season and look towards the future.”
The question now is whether Koepka will decide to do what he needs to get out of his LIV contract a year early.
