Laurie Canter has become the latest addition to LIV Golf despite earning a PGA Tour card for the 2026 season.

Canter has rejoined LIV Golf ahead of the new season, for which he had just earned one of the 10 PGA Tour cards for DP World Tour players.

But Canter has opted against the move in favor of a switch to LIV Golf, where he has already made 21 appearances.

The Englishman, who played in the inaugural event in London in 2022, has replaced the relegated Henrik Stenson at Majesticks GC.

Laurie Canter speaks for the first time since joining LIV Golf

Canter has now opened up about his decision, telling the LIV Golf website: “Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one.

“The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.

“To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honor, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”

Golf fans react to Laurie Canter rejoining LIV Golf

Canter will join the likes of compatriots Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter at Majesticks, with many golf fans now excited for the team and indeed the league after its latest acquisition.

“Great signing! Laurie will contend to win events in 2026,” one wrote on X, with another commenting: “Good addition.”

Another concurred: “Good for Laurie, fill your boots, been around the game for a long time, watched him last year at the Belfry, can really give it a bang.”

Others said: “Welcome back Laurie. Great play on the DP Tour this year. Look forward to seeing you play next year again on LIV,” and “Makes sense for Majesticks/LIV, as it should provide more depth to the roster.”

Which LIV golfer do you most want to see return to the PGA Tour?

And there was further agreement: “Turning down a PGA Tour card worked out quite well for [Tom] McKibbin this past year. Rooting for Canter to have similar success in 2026!”

McKibbin was indeed in the exact same position as Canter last year, deciding to join LIV Golf despite earning a PGA Tour card.

The Northern Irishman has since earned a spot at The Masters for 2026, having triumphed at the Hong Kong Open last month.
