Scottie Scheffler headlines TPC Sawgrass this week, where he is chasing a third successive Players Championship title.

Scheffler won the 2024 Players despite injury, with his one-shot victory following a five-shot success in 2023.

TPC Sawgrass was the host venue on both occasions, with the PGA Tour now returning to the iconic Ponte Vedra Beach course.

After winning his second title in 2013, Tiger Woods warned about TPC Sawgrass’s last three holes, which includes the iconic island green on 17.

It arrives in between the par-five 16th and par-four 18th, which come in at 537 yards and 462 yards respectively.

Rory McIlroy outshines Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele so far in 2025

It has been an interesting season so far for Scheffler, McIlroy and Schauffele to say the least, with the American duo having been impacted by injury.

After returning from hand surgery, Scheffler has made a positive start to 2025, with finishes of T9, T25, T3 and T11.

His compatriot Schauffele has been limited to just two events due to a rib injury, with T30 and T40 finishes.

McIlroy meanwhile will be hugely satisfied with his start, with T17 and T15 finishes following his victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The Northern Irishman has managed to move ahead of Schauffele in the world rankings, but Scheffler remains top of the pile.

Getting the 17th hole just right may be crucial to success this week, with even the game’s leading players expected to have an issue or two with the island green.
