Sahith Theegala is making his Presidents Cup debut this week, and the United States star has shared an interesting view on the course at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
Theegala was one of six Team USA players present at the Procore Championship, which was the last chance for Jim Furyk’s men to gain tournament rounds ahead of the event in Quebec.
Theegala has been backed to thrive when the opening matches get underway on Thursday, and if the 26-year-old impresses, he could be a shoo-in for Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup roster.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s opening round, Theegala has now given his verdict on Royal Montreal, a course which promises to provide a tree-lined test of Furyk’s 12-man United States Team.

Theegala initially revealed that the course played a lot tougher on Tuesday than it had earlier in the week.
“The course is great. I saw a different side of the course today. It was playing a lot tougher. Front nine was playing long—just kind of a heavy wind. Hit a lot of, like, 5 and 7 irons into the greens and a four iron as well. It’s playing long. Great track, though,” Theegala said.
The American, however, did suggest the front nine holes weren’t the most thrilling. “The front nine, I would say, I wouldn’t call it forgettable but a little more in front of you and almost boring,” Theegala added.
“But it’s boring in a good way. It requires good shots. You have to place your ball. You have to hit the shots. So it’s rewarding for good golf and punishing for bad golf.”
“But the back nine is so — I love the back nine. The greens are all dissected by these ridges and you can tuck pins there’s water on almost on every hole. It feels like a match-playback nine. I hope they move 14 up. But it’s a sweet track.”

Theegala is coming off an impressive finish at the season-ending Tour Championship and T7 at the Procore Championship in Napa.
There’s reason for the 26-year-old to be optimistic ahead of this weekend’s match-play event, and Theegala is in a confident mood.
“My game is feeling really good. I didn’t have it today, but my game is feeling really good, and I really feel I can put up some points for our team. That’s the goal,” Theegala added.
“I am excited to spend time with the guys in a different setting. Pretty much every time, you want to beat those guys, but this is the one week of the year that you are on the same team as them, and it’s going to be such a cool atmosphere and environment.”
