International star Tom Kim has made an astonishing claim about the fans at Royal Montreal Golf Club after the United States won all five matches on the opening day of the Presidents Cup.
Kim and Sungjae Im lost 3&2 to Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley in what was a dramatic third match.
Kim was fired up on the first tee and was seen going back and forth with Scheffler throughout. However, after the match, Scheffler played down their reactions.
Tom Kim disappointed by Canadian crowd at the Presidents Cup

Kim was looking to pump up the crowd from the outset. However, the American domination quickly quelled what could have been an electric atmosphere.
Speaking after his round, Kim was quick to share his disappointment at the support he and the rest of the International Team received at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
“I think it was a little too quiet today being on home soil,” Kim said. “I wish they would have helped us out a bit more, especially being in Canada. I know how much they love golf.”
Canadian fans need something to cheer at the Presidents Cup
After the USA’s clean sweep on day one, the Canadian fans can be forgiven for letting the atmosphere fade. The Americans were in complete control throughout and never looked like dropping a point.
Kim’s comments, particularly when he was part of the heaviest defeat of the day, feel ill-thought-out. Unsurprisingly, Kim has now been rested for Friday’s foursomes.
Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele reunite to take on Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im. Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith take on Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala.
Brian Harman and Max Homa come off the bench and face Jason Day and Christiaan Bezuidenhout. Wyndham Clark and Tony Finau will be up against Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes.
The last match sees Scheffler and Russell Henley take on Si Woo Kim and Byeong Hun An.
