Day one of the Presidents Cup is in the bag and it was an excellent day all around for Team USA despite some controversy involving talisman, Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler was sent out by Jim Furyk alongside Russell Henley and did the business by coming home 3&2 to add a point to the USA’s tally.
For Scheffler, it was vital he did get off to a winning start given his stance in the game and the year he’s had.
And in the end, he delivered for his team.
However, Scheffler and Henley’s win was not without incident as early on in the round, both Scheffler and good friend Tom Kim went at it on the greens.

Kim celebrated wildly after holing a putt before Scheffler did the same and was overheard shouting ‘What was that?!!’ to his good pal.
Having been fired up from the first tee, Kim’s behaviour didn’t go down well with Sky commentator, Wayne Riley.
Of course, for the onlooking golf fan, it was just what the tournament needed. It added a bit of ‘needle’ throughout and mad for must-watch golf
However, Scheffler has spoken on the incident and in typical Scottie fashion, has insisted it’s all good.

Scottie Scheffler comments on Tom Kim incident at the Presidents Cup
Speaking to the media immediately after his round at the side of the green, Scheffler was pressed for his thoughts on the issues with Kim.
And discussing it with a smile on his face, the world number one insisted it was all good fun and they’d be the same with each other at home.
“That was a bit of fun. It was the same thing I would have done at home if he had made a putt and we were playing wolf and celebrated like that. So it’s all in good fun,” Scheffler said.
“We enjoy competing against each other. That’s what it’s like out there, it’s fun to compete and represent our country and at the end of the match you take your hat off and shake hands.
“We are friends after, not friends during I guess!”

With Team USA having a hugely successful opening day in the four-balls and having a history of dominating the foursomes, it’s looking like it might be game over already.
Of course, The Internationals will need the likes of Tom Kim to produce tomorrow if they’re to have any sort of chance.
Scheffler, as he so often does, will simply go about his business and more than likely, keep winning.
