Adam Scott is the most experienced International Team player at the Presidents Cup, but he doesn’t think he’s the best.
Scott is set for a record-extending 11th Presidents Cup, having made his debut in the competition all the way back in 2003.
Unfortunately, however, Scott has yet to taste success at the event, with nine consecutive losses following his debut draw.
And in further unfortunate circumstances for the Australian veteran, the US Presidents Cup Team is filled with top 10 players.
Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay all occupy spots in the top 10.

Adam Scott makes Hideki Matsuyama claim ahead of the Presidents Cup
There is just one International Team player in that position for the Presidents Cup, with Hideki Matsuyama seventh in the Official World Golf Ranking.
And he is the player that Scott certainly has high hopes for, with the Australian saying what Matsuyama brings to the team in his Presidents Cup press conference.

“Well, he’s our best player,” said Scott. “I mean, that’s a good start point. Is he 6 in the world, or whatever he is? He’s won twice, two big events this year.
“He brings the strength to this team. Whoever plays with him, it’s like a dream pairing to play with Hideki. He’s so good, and you know, we are going to lean on him this week. We need him to deliver points. We need our best player to deliver points. He knows that.
“It’s like I feel like I need to deliver more points than I have before, and you know, if a couple of the older, more experienced players can do that, hopefully it can filter down throughout the rest of the team.”
Adam Scott calls Hideki Matsuyama Japan’s ‘greatest player ever’
The US Team may be filled with more star names, but the International Team certainly boasts more experience.
And that, along with home advantage, could be key for Mike Weir as he looks to edge out Jim Furyk in Montreal.
Canadian Weir has selected three compatriots in Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Pendrith in his efforts to clinch Presidents Cup success.

They should soak up the home support, but it is the likes of Matsuyama and world number 18 Scott who should be relied upon to deliver when it really matters.
Scott continued his praise for his fellow International Team member, describing Matsuyama as a “master” before noting: “I just have so much admiration for what he does, the pressure he deals with playing for all of Japan, as their greatest player ever, I think. You know, he is the master.”
