Cameron Young finally put to bed his wait for a PGA Tour victory by winning The Wyndham Championship.

Young had gone more than 90 PGA Tour events without a win but produced a dominant performance at the Wyndham to win by six shots.

Young became the 1000th winner in TOUR history by grabbing victory and it’s a win that propels him into the top 20 of the FedEx standings.

However, another aspect to now consider for Young is whether he can make a late push to be included in the Team USA Ryder Cup team.

Young himself has admitted he’d love to be a part of the team and the decision will now rest with Keegan Bradley.

Now, Golf analyst Todd Lewis has spoken on Young’s form and suggested that more wins, and a potential place at Bethpage are in sight.

Todd Lewis says whether Cameron Young can make the Ryder Cup

With Young now right in the conversation for the best players on the PGA Tour, it’s a very realistic possibility that the American does indeed make Bethpage.

To do so, he might need to keep winning or at least contending and speaking on the Golf Channel podcast, Todd Lewis has now suggested both are possible.

“Absolutely. We have talked about him for a long time being a great player. He was a great junior player, he was a great amateur and a great collegiate player. It seemed inevitable he was going to – maybe not be an elite player immediately – but a very good to great player on the first few years on the PGA Tour. It took him a while to finally win,” Lewis explained.

“But, yeah, I think that slight injection of belief that I am finally holding a trophy is going to make him even more comfortable when he gets into these environments once again. I see him winning multiple times on the PGA Tour.”

Adding further comment on Young’s ability to catch Keegan Bradley’s eye, Lewis continued.

“There are certain criteria that Keegan Bradley and his vice-captains are looking for. One is form and obviously he’s playing well, if he continues to play well and has a run through the play-offs then you very much have to consider him.

“Another thing they are considering when picking players is how their game sets up at Bethpage.
Of course, he grew up just outside of New York and he has played Bethpage quite a bit. As a matter of fact he won the New York State Open and was the first amateur to do that at Bethpage Black, so his game obviously does fit there.

“So yes, if he continues to show this form, I’m not saying he has to win an event but at least put himself in the mix a couple of times, he very well could be on that team.”

What Webb Simpson plans on telling Keegan Bradley about Cameron Young

With Young a New York native anyway, the idea of him teeing it up at Bethpage Black will more than appeal to him and the American fans.

Indeed, after seeing Young get over the line at the Wyndham, Webb Simpson has admitted he’d be a great fit for the team.

“Man, I mean, Cam’s a New Yorker, I know he loves that golf course. Anytime you’re about to win by 10, you’ve got to talk about him. And he certainly has the right game for that golf course. He’s just adding his name to the list of many guys that are hard for us to say no to,” Simpson admitted.

Right now, Young is hard to ignore and if he plays well in the next few weeks, he might well end up on the squad.
