Cameron Young can finally call himself a PGA Tour winner after so many years of pain and near misses.
Young has endured his fair share of heartache over the past few years, missing out time and time again while in pursuit of his first PGA Tour win.
That long wait is over for the New Yorker now, though, after he blew away the field at the Wyndham Championship.
Young made a bold change before the Wyndham Championship began by switching his shot shape to a draw from a fade.
That has proven to be an inspired decision from the 28-year-old from Scarborough, New York.
He has been on fire from his first round onwards. Young’s 125 total for the first two rounds at the Wyndham Championship was the second lowest 36-hole score of the season.
And he now has tied the scoring record at the Wyndham as well. On top of that, Young is now a PGA Tour history maker too.
Cameron Young makes PGA Tour history as he wins the Wyndham Championship
Young put in a flawless performance from Thursday through to Sunday at Sedgefield Country Club.

The 28-year-old drove the ball well and hit his irons solidly. However, it was his putter that enabled him to separate himself from the field.
Young has proven to himself this week that he is more than good enough to be a consistent winner on tour.
He has now made PGA Tour history.
With his win at the Wyndham Championship, Young became the 1,000th winner on the PGA Tour.
Considering all of his near misses and seven runner-up finishes, Young becoming the 1,000th winner on the PGA Tour has a feel of poetic justice about it.
Cameron Young could make the Ryder Cup team now
Young now has a very real chance of playing in front of his home fans at Bethpage Black next month.
It will be impossible for Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley not to have his eye on Young right now, after his exceptional performance in North Carolina this week.
Webb Simpson said he plans to tell Bradley great things about Young, after his win at the Wyndham Championship.
We all know how important it is to putt well at the Ryder Cup, and the 28-year-old has been one of the best on tour on the greens this season.
Young ranked first in strokes gained putting at the Wyndham Championship as well.
While he may not qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup, he’s now in with a real chance of obtaining a captain’s pick.
Young is one of the most in-form American golfers on the planet right now, and Bradley may well not be able to ignore him.
