Jordan Spieth has endured a tremendously difficult 2025 PGA Tour season so far.

Spieth‘s first three rounds at the Wyndham Championship summed up his PGA Tour season as a whole to a tee, with his Ryder Cup hopes continuing to fade away into the distance.

The 32-year-old is desperately trying to rediscover his best form at the moment, and he has been for quite some time now.

On Wednesday, Spieth predicted that 2026 will be a great year for him, but it feels like this season may well pass him by.

The three-time major champion’s game is just nowhere near as sharp as it needs to at the moment.

Spieth looked like his old self on day one at the Wyndham Championship, but his last two rounds have been more in keeping with his form this season.

It feels like Spieth has wasted a glorious opportunity this week, after his fine start to the tournament on Thursday.

It seems like the man from Dallas, Texas, is simply trying too hard right now, and nothing is going right for him on the golf course.

On Wednesday, Spieth said he is still hopeful of making the Ryder Cup team in September.

He is currently sitting in 27th position in the US Ryder Cup standings, and he’s in 50th spot in the FedEx Cup points list.

So as things stand, it’s highly unlikely that he will qualify automatically for the Ryder Cup, even with a couple of wins.

Spieth would then have to rely on a captain’s pick from Keegan Bradley, The painful truth is that Spieth is just not showing the form right now that would justify a pick from Bradley.

There was one point during his third round when he had the chance to make a big statement.

Jordan Spieth’s problems continue at the Wyndham Championship

The Dallas native birdied three of his first four holes, and moved to eight-under par for the tournament. A round in the low 60s would have catapulted him back into contention at the Wyndham Championship.

However, Spieth went backwards on day three after his fine start. He double-bogeyed the seventh hole and then made three consecutive bogeys on his back nine to finish with a round of even-par 70.

The 13-time PGA Tour winner now finds himself well down in the leaderboard in a tie for 36th.

Unless he shoots a round in the low-60s on Sunday, he won’t finish inside the top-10, and then he will have his work cut out at the FedEx St. Jude Classic next week if he is to advance to the BMW Championship the following week.

Spieth needs to win next week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, if he is to have any chance of qualifying for the Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black next month.

Unfortunately for him though, his game seems to be a million miles away from the level required to win on the PGA Tour.

Spieth’s third round at the Wyndham Championship was a microcosm of his 2025 season so far, and it feels like the best thing for him now would be a complete reset before going again in 2026.
