The past three years have been incredibly difficult for Jordan Spieth.
A man of Spieth‘s calibre should be winning regularly every single season, but his last PGA Tour victory came way back in April 2022.
Spieth says he is very close to getting back to his best, and he will need three or four really good weeks if he is to make the Ryder Cup team.
Interestingly, Spieth has backed Keegan Bradley to play at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.
Whether Bradley wants the 32-year-old on the team as well remains to be seen, though.

The three-time major champion hasn’t really shown much form at all this season, and his recent injury certainly didn’t help matters.
As of right now, does Spieth believe he is deserving of a place on the US Ryder Cup team?
Jordan Spieth rates his chances of making America’s Ryder Cup team
Spieth has an extensive history of playing at the Ryder Cup.
The Dallas native has played on five Ryder Cup teams, and that kind of experience could prove to be invaluable at Bethpage in September.
However, if the Ryder Cup began today, does Spieth believe he should be on the team?
He spoke to reporters ahead of the Wyndham Championship and discussed exactly that.
Spieth said: “I think that’s something of a perk of accomplishing the other goals which I’m trying to over the next few weeks. I think if I’m able to get on a good run and contend and get a few high finishes, maybe get a win, I make a good case.

“But I am on the outside looking in and it was going to be a tall task off of my season hurt last year and starting late this year. It was going to be a lot to ask, with majors being a huge part of my opportunities to make the team.
“Having said that I have got maybe some guys in my corner if I start to show that good things are coming, but you have some guys who were on the outside looking in who have already worked their way into the top 12 which make the American side look really strong and really difficult to make this late in the season.
“So like I said if I make a run through East Lake and make a run there, then I feel good about whatever happens and if I am able to play on that team that was my loftiest goal at the beginning of the season. But obviously it was a tall task and I’m happy to be playing healthy and now it’s time to execute.“
The pressure is on now for Spieth, and he has to go out and deliver.
Jordan Spieth’s Ryder Cup record
Spieth has played a total of 22 matches in the Ryder Cup throughout his career.
Here is how his record stacks up:
| Results | Spieth’s totals |
| Matches played | 22 |
| Wins | 8 |
| Losses | 9 |
| Halves | 5 |
| Total points | 10.5 |
If Spieth is to receive a captain’s pick from Bradley for the Ryder Cup, one would assume that he needs to win a tournament over the next few weeks.
Perhaps a couple of top-5 finishes in a row would be enough to show captain Bradley that he is ready to play at Bethpage.
Spieth just needs to focus on playing some really good golf now, and the rest will take care of itself.
