With so much going on in the world of golf and changes galore being announced from the PGA Tour, they must feel like everyone is out to get them, so it’s a welcome break when they actually get praised for something.
The PGA Tour closed its season fully for 2024 with the final event of the FedEx Fall, The RSM Classic, bringing plenty of drama.
Golf fans were left trying to follow Joel Dahmen’s desperate attempt to keep his TOUR card, while Maverick McNealy got his first ever win to finish the year in style.
Further, Luke Clanton was also in with a chance of winning as an amateur, in another added layer.
Of course, the PGA has come in for some harsh criticism in recent times, with constant rumblings around the LIV Golf merger, discussions over rule changes and the cut to the field coming in 2026, all topics of discussion.
However, while the negative comments are there, it’s worth bringing up the praise as well and that’s just what former player, Smylie Kaufman has done.

Smylie Kaufman praised the PGA Tour as 2024 season comes to an end
Kaufman has been one of the most vocal people in all the sport in 2024 and via his podcast, he’s always there to expertly assess matters.
On this occasion though, Kaufman took to X to share his views on the final day of the RSM and called the end to the season the ‘perfect’ way to finish a fine season.
2025 could be an even better year on the PGA Tour
With so much going off in 2024, it will take some topping to beat it but there might just be a chance that 2025 comes out on top.
With a Ryder Cup to come, the usual stories around the majors and Rory McIlroy’s return to top form, as well as the eyes on if Tiger Woods might just pull something out of the bag one more time, there’s always excitement.
However, with Scottie Scheffler so dominant in 2024, players will want to step their game up and hunt him down, which could bring some hugely exciting events to the table.
With LIV Golf going from strength to strength as well, the PGA is under even more pressure to keep eyeballs on its own product, which for the fan, should only be a good thing.
2025, then, could well be another smash hit for golf!
