Ted Scott and Scottie Scheffler formed a formidable partnership last year as the world number one dominated on the PGA Tour.
Scheffler earned over $60m in 2024. As a result, Scott banked over $5m and earned more than most high-level professionals on Tour.
The Scheffler-Scott partnership has received plenty of praise, and many believe Bubba Watson’s former caddie has played a big part in the American becoming the world’s best golfer.
Before hiring Scott, Scheffler’s temperament sometimes got the better of him out on the course, mainly when his putting was off-the-boil.
Ted Scott’s concern about Scottie Scheffler before he started working for him

Scheffler’s attitude was actually an issue Scott considered before he agreed to become his caddie.
“November of 2021, I split with Bubba Watson. Bubba and I had spent so much time together. We weren’t growing together anymore. I wanted to move on and do something else,” Scott said in the latest series of Full Swing.
“A friend of mine approached me and said you’re about to receive a phone call from a really good player. This guy’s really, really good. I had never really met Scottie other than the fact we’d played with him at the New Orleans tournament. I saw that he was kind of feisty.
“That’s one of the questions I asked him when he called. I said I am not sure if I want to work for you cause of your attitude. I posed that question to him, and he said, ‘That’s a fair question, and that’s something I am willing to work on,’ and that’s all I needed.”

What Scottie Scheffler has said about success with Ted Scott in 2024
Clearly, Scott’s decision to join forces with Scheffler was an inspired one. After enjoying plenty of success with Watson, Scott would not have anticipated becoming the right-hand man to arguably the most dominant golfer since Tiger Woods.
In fact, as Scott mentions, he saw Scheffler up close for the first time at the 2021 Zurich Classic. Scheffler and Watson teamed up in New Orleans. The pair finished on 16 under and failed to mount a final round charge at TPC Louisiana.

Scheffler, speaking to the Pardon My Take podcast in September, talked about his relationship with Scott and even detailed how he pays Watson’s former caddie.
“We have a girl that helps us pay bills basically because I’m a child, and I can’t keep track of all that stuff,” the two-time Masters champ revealed. “She quickly took over that job and texts me at the end of every week and is like, ‘Hey, this is how much we’re paying Ted.’ I’m like, ‘That’s great. Perfect.’”
