Scottie Scheffler is never afraid to add a tinge of sarcasm when speaking to the media before and after PGA Tour events.
Before last week’s Hero World Challenge – which Scheffler won – the world number one sarcastically discussed the finances within golf after he banked over $60m during the 2024 season.
What’s more, during the latest FedEx St Jude Championship, Scheffler left fans in hysterics after providing an entertaining post-round interview whilst Xander Schauffele was in close proximity.
Scheffler‘s humour isn’t new, however. In 2021, he produced a comical explanation when asked how he and Bubba Watson ended up teaming up at the Zurich Classic.
Scottie Scheffler’s honest Bubba Watson claim

Speaking during a press conference in New Orleans, Scheffler explained – in a brutally honest way – how he and Watson joined forces.
“Bubba asked like eight or nine guys, and they all said no. Then he waited for me, and I waited about four or five days. I texted a few guys, and no one responded, so I said yes,” Scheffler said.
Watson added: “That is pretty much it.”
How did Scottie Scheffler and Bubba Watson play at the 2021 Zurich Classic?
Unfortunately, the Scheffler-Watson partnership didn’t yield a win at TPC Louisiana.
The duo finished on 16 under after carding rounds of 64, 69, 66, and 73. Ultimately, their final 18 holes prevented them from competing at the top of the leaderboard.
Aussie pair Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith eventually beat Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel in a play-off. Interestingly, all four players, along with Watson, are now playing in the LIV Golf League.
Scheffler did not participate in the 2024 Zurich Classic, which Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry won.
