LIV Golf will attempt to prise more players away from the PGA Tour during the off-season.
It was back in June 2022 when numerous PGA Tour players jumped ship to LIV Golf, including the likes of six-time major winner Phil Mickelson, the big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau, five-time major champion Brooks Koepka and 29-time PGA Tour winner Dustin Johnson.
And then more big names began to defect over the course of the next 18 months, including Jon Rahm, his Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton and the hugely talented Joaquin Niemann.
A potential merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour is nowhere near happening right now.
LIV’s insistence on a team format being included in any kind of deal is believed to be the main sticking point at the moment.

So, as things stand, it seems as though professional golf will continue down the path of having one tour attempting to poach players from another tour during every single off-season.
And the same will happen this winter.
Cameron Young is the most realistic signing LIV Golf can make from the PGA Tour
It was only two months ago when Cameron Young finally got his first PGA Tour win.
And interestingly, the fact that he won on the PGA Tour so recently makes him the ideal candidate to join LIV, if a recent report from Golf Digest is to be believed.
It was suggested on Thursday that two PGA Tour stars are in discussions to join LIV Golf.
They claim: “Representatives of two recent tour winners are in discussions with LIV. Other rank-and-file names are angling for one last career payday.“
They do make it clear that none of the potential newcomers to LIV are as high-profile as Rahm.
So all eyes are on Young right now. Obviously there are other recent winners who could make the move, including the likes of Kurt Kitayama, Ryan Gerard and Chris Gotterup.

However, LIV signing any of those names would not set pulses racing as it would if they added Young to their ranks.
Young was a huge success at the Ryder Cup for the US team, and he seems to be on the precipice of real greatness.
While we’re not suggesting that the 28-year-old New Yorker is LIV-bound, he is unquestionably the best and most realistic signing they could make this off-season.
Cameron Young would be a major statement signing for LIV Golf
Young’s recent win at the Wyndham Championship means that he fits the criteria of players who Golf Digest suggest are in talks with LIV.
He is an explosive talent, with his extraordinary power off the tee and his ability to perform well under pressure, as he showed at the Ryder Cup last month.
Young is not in the same stratosphere as the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, so he should easily be attainable for LIV Golf, if they offer him enough money.
He may well reject any advances the Saudi-backed outfit make. After all, there is a chance that he is not someone who is motivated by money and instead wants to build a legacy for himself on the PGA Tour.
That said, it would shock nobody if PGA Tour star Young was on LIV Golf’s radar at the very least.
British publication The Times claimed back in August 2022 that Young could be set to join LIV. However, that obviously didn’t happen in the end, and the now 28-year-old spoke out about his decision to remain with the PGA Tour just weeks after that claim was made.
When speaking to The Athletic, he said: “I mean, frankly, I have decided to stay. So, I don’t know, it’s a really difficult situation, because it’s not really anything anyone wanted to happen. I think it wasn’t meant to be this hostile between the two.”
So, are LIV set to have another bite at the cherry when it comes to Young? Only time will tell.
