The inaugural TGL season starts in January, and fans can now take a look at the SoFI Center after a brand new social media video was posted.

After several setbacks, including damage to the state-of-the-art facility in Palm Beach, the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-backed venture is primed to get underway in the new year.

Woods and McIlroy will feature in week two, with Xander Schauffele’s New York Golf Club taking on The Bay Golf Club during the first week’s action.

Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay are also part of the unique league. The duo will get their season underway on January 21 when Atlanta Drive GC takes on New York Golf Club.

Thomas is excited about the TGL, and the American has become one of the first people to see the unique SoFi centre.

The TGL posted their first look at the studio on Wednesday, November 13. Thomas and Cantlay were also present in Palm Beach and were seen testing out the unique simulator and short game area.

After hitting a drive on the simulator, Thomas was heard saying, “Fairway hitting machine, Patrick.”

Cantlay was also seen testing out the short game area, which is set to add another dynamic to the indoor golf league.

The TGL format will consist of 15 holes split across two different sessions. In the first session, three players from each team will take alternative shots from holes one to nine; in the second session, a single player from each side will battle it out for two holes each, from ten to 15.

What happened to the SoFi Center in 2023

The SoFi Center has proven troublesome throughout the preparation for TGL organisers. In November 2023, the building collapsed because of a temporary power system failure.

Initially, January 2024 was earmarked as a start date; however, after the damage, another year was added to ensure the facility would be ready. The SoFi Center is 250,000 square feet and has 65-foot screens so that 2000 fans can enjoy the action.

With the league less than two months away from starting, intrigue is undoubtedly building around what the innovative format could produce.

Golf has never seen anything like the TGL before, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see ESPN’s prime-time slot rack up impressive viewing figures.
