The 2025 Ryder Cup teams have been finalized! The Golfing Gazette shares the European lineup for Bethpage Black.
Luke Donald’s team thrashed the United States at Marco Simone last time, but they are still underdogs for the next edition of golf’s most iconic competition.
That’s because winning a Ryder Cup on foreign soil is a different challenge altogether – it has not been done since the famous Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
The good news for Donald is that he has plenty of top talent to call upon, such as Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Tommy Fleetwood.
Here we have the 12 European players who will take on the United States in September after the captain’s picks were announced.

The 12 players on the European Ryder Cup 2025 team confirmed
Five of the six automatic qualifiers for the European team were members of the winning team in 2023 (Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Tyrrell Hatton).
While McIlroy’s place was confirmed a while ago, Donald announced after the St Jude Championship last month that Rose and Fleetwood had also qualified.
| Rank | Player (Nationality) | Points |
| 1 | Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) | 3489.21 |
| 2 | Robert MacIntyre (Scotland) | 1709.94 |
| 3 | Tommy Fleetwood (England) | 1622.11 |
| 4 | Justin Rose (England) | 1545.72 |
| 5 | Rasmus Hojgaard (Denmark) | 1283.56 |
| 6 | Tyrrell Hatton (England) | 1279.33 |
MacIntyre and Hatton then became the fourth and fifth members of the team after the BMW Championship and LIV Golf Indianapolis.
Rasmus Hojgaard finally pipped Shane Lowry to the final qualification spot with his top-15 finish at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo.
Donald then faced the difficult task of picking six more players to round out the 12-man European squad for the Ryder Cup.
| Rank | Player (Nationality) | Points |
| 7 | Shane Lowry (Ireland) | 1275.51 |
| 8 | Sepp Straka (Austria) | 1264.27 |
| 9 | Ludvig Aberg (Sweden) | 1140.44 |
| 10 | Viktor Hovland (Norway) | 1031.34 |
| 11 | Matt Fitzpatrick (England) | 899.53 |
| 12 | Matt Wallace (England) | 881.12 |
| 13 | Thomas Detry (Belgium) | 817.19 |
| 14 | Marco Penge (England) | 810.38 |
| 15 | Aaron Rai (England) | 754.86 |
| 16 | Jordan Smith (England) | 738.84 |
| 17 | Harry Hall (England) | 703.38 |
| 18 | Nicolai Hojgaard (Denmark) | 681.26 |
| 19 | Niklas Norgaard (Denmark) | 651.10 |
| 20 | John Parry (England) | 634.45 |
However, most golf fans agreed that the European team was almost self-selecting, with some obvious candidates available to Donald.
Donald ultimately chose the next five players in the qualification standings: Lowry, Straka, Aberg, Viktor Hovland, and Matt Fitzpatrick.
And, despite finishing nowhere near the automatic spots, Jon Rahm was never going to miss out after winning the LIV Golf Individual Championship.

Team Europe’s Ryder Cup 2025 qualification process
The qualification process for Team Europe started last September with the British Masters, and the Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship also took place before the end of the 2024 season.
The first marquee event of the 2025 DP World Tour campaign – the Dubai Desert Classic – concluded in January, with Tyrrell Hatton lifting the trophy.
Meanwhile, the 2025 PGA Tour season has seen big performances from the likes of McIlroy at The Masters, Ludvig Aberg at the Genesis Invitational, and Sepp Straka at the Truist Championship.
