PGA Tour players were all in agreement about one thing after the conclusion of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.

The fans in Connecticut were treated to a very familiar outcome on Sunday afternoon after Scottie Scheffler edged out Tom Kim to land his sixth win in ten starts.

The Travelers brings to a close a busy three-week stretch of golf after the Memorial and US Open. Up next is the Rocket Mortgage Classic before the John Deere at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.

Speaking during the Smylie Show after the conclusion of the Travelers Championship, Smylie Kaufman revealed that all players were “wiped” out after the last signature event of the season.

“You actually made a good point about guys being tired at the Travelers,” he explained. “Every single player, family member, and support team talked about how wiped they’ve been. The Memorial, US Open, Travelers. Let’s learn from that, and I think we already have.”

Looking ahead, Kaufman also suggested the Memorial changing dates can only be a positive.

He added: “We saw the date of Jack’s event being changed and not being tied right next to the US Open. That, for me, is a win for the players because everybody I saw this week was like zombies.”

PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele also spoke of how fatigued he was after his second round on Friday.

PGA Tour make the right decision on Memorial scheduling

The decision to move the Memorial in 2025 feels like the correct one.

Jack Nicklaus’ event coming the week before the US Open felt slightly ill-thought-out, something Scheffler highlighted after his disappointing outing at Pinehurst No.2.

“As far as prep for this week, it may not have been the best, but I knew what my schedule was at the beginning of the year,” he explained: “I feel like going forward, I’ll maybe do things a little bit differently in the weeks leading up to majors, especially when you know it’s going to be a challenging setup at a U.S. Open.”

Scheffler is now set to take a much-needed break ahead of The Open Championship in July.

The American is yet to seal a major title beyond April and will be hoping to end that unwanted record in Troon next month.
