Scottie Scheffler has revealed the part of his game that has massively improved since last week’s US Open at Pinehurst No.2
The American made seven birdies and one solitary bogey to play his way firmly into contention at the Travelers Championship, which is taking place at TPC River Highlands this weekend.
Korean Tom Kim leads the way on 13 under, with Scheffler, Akshay Bhatia and Collin Morikawa all two shots back.
2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele sits one back on ten under after shooting a pair of 65s on the opening two days.

Speaking to the media after his second round, Scheffler was asked whether he thinks his ball striking is now back near its best.
The reporter asked: “You’ve missed only two greens through two days and four fairways through two days; it feels like your ball striking is kind of back where you want it after it was not as well last week?”
The world number one responded, suggesting his usually reliable ball striking has improved from last week.
He said: “Yeah, definitely better than last week [ball-striking]; as I said yesterday, I found a little stuff in my swing and seeing the breaks a lot better on these greens and definitely feeling some good momentum over the last two days.
Win number six of 2024 could be just around the corner for Scottie Scheffler
We’ve seen this scenario several times before. Scheffler, just off the lead ahead of moving day, usually leads to one outcome.
Kim, Bhatia and Morikawa will have to go low over the next two days to stave off the advances of the world number one.
What Scheffler is managing to produce on a weekly basis is getting ever the more impressive.
His ability to bounce back from poor rounds almost immediately is a clear sign of an all-time great. And as we head into the third round, it feels like another low round is practically a foregone conclusion.
