World number five Wyndham Clark has made an interesting claim about the upcoming Olympics at Le Golf National in Paris.
The American was selected as part of the four-man team set to represent Team USA in Paris. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa are also set to compete.
Clark’s inclusion angered some American fans, with US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau missing out despite being in the form of his life.
The 30-year-old has now been talking about his latest international feat and was asked whether the Olympics is more important than the Ryder Cup.

Speaking after his first-round 66 at the Travelers Championship, Clark claimed that the Olympics is arguably bigger than the Ryder Cup.
He explained: “The Ryder Cup in golf is kind of the biggest thing, but now that golf is in the Olympics, it’s probably even bigger than that because you are representing your country at such a bigger level.
“Hopefully all four of us can go and try and snag some podium spots and try and give medals to the US to try and win that total medal count. It’s pretty awesome; it probably ranks as the coolest team I have ever made.”
For the golfing world, the Ryder Cup is clear
For golf fans all around the world, the Ryder Cup is clearly the biggest event; the famous competition provides drama like no other.
But, on a global scale, there’s an argument to suggest the Olympics could draw more attention.
Of course, after being picked for the Olympic team, Clark is naturally going to side with next month’s event. And after featuring in one previous Ryder Cup, the 30-year-old’s experience in golf’s most significant matchplay event is pretty limited.
After a fairly mediocre season to date, the 2023 US Open champion will be looking to turn around what’s been a disappointing 2024 at Le Golf National.
