The Wyndham Championship is the last chance for PGA Tour players to qualify for the end-of-season FedEx Cup playoffs.
Jordan Spieth is the highest-profile name who could face a premature end to the season. The three-time major winner currently sits just inside the top 70 and needs a positive week in North Carolina.
Min Woo Lee is another who desperately needs FedEx Cup points ahead of the St. Just Championship, which begins next week.
Golf commentator Smylie Kaufman has now taken a look at the final regular season event, and the American can only envisage one outcome at Sedgefield Country Club.
Billy Horschel backed to continue impressive Wyndham Championship form

Billy Horschel is back in action after he pulled out of the 3M Open just one week after The Open Championship at Royal Troon.
The 37-year-old produced a brilliant performance on Scotland’s west coast, finished T2 and was two shots back of eventual winner Xander Schauffele. Despite his outstanding performance, Horschel still faced critics online after the final major of the year.
Kaufman has now backed the eight-time PGA Tour winner to add another tournament victory to his already impressive resume.
“I kind of settled in on Billy Horschel; I know we just talked to him. He’s in a position where if he goes out and wins, that helps him potentially make the Presidents Cup team; he’s inside the top 30,” Kaufman said in the latest edition of the Smylie Show.
“He’s had six top 11s at the Wyndham since 2016, so it’s a golf course he obviously likes and feels comfortable with.”
Kaufman also highlighted the lack of pressure on Horschel’s shoulders due to his impressive FedEx Cup position.
“If it’s a bunched leaderboard and other guys are worried about getting into the top 70,” he added. “Give me the guy who has nothing to lose, that his job is secure and that anything he does is a bonus. Give me Billy Horschel for those reasons.”
PGA Tour win would cap brilliant season for Billy Horschel
Horschel couldn’t have done much more during last month’s Open Championship. He carded a three under 68 during the final round and certainly delivered his part of the bargain.
However, the American wouldn’t have anticipated Schauffele producing arguably the round of the year to land his second major championship title.
For Horschel, building on his recent major performance is a must heading into the playoffs. And on a track where he’s enjoyed success previously, it would take a brave man to bet against the confessed West Ham fan at Sedgefield Country Club.
