Scottie Scheffler is looking to finish his remarkable PGA Tour season on a high as the FedEx Cup playoffs get underway.
The St Jude Championship will host the FedEx Cup top 70 before the top 50 advance to next week’s BMW Championship.
Xander Schauffele is Scheffler’s main rival heading into the season’s latter stages, and several players have been comparing the duo’s 2024 records.
Viktor Hovland believes Schauffele has had a better season, whereas Patrick Cantlay says Scheffler should be Player of the Year.
The argument could be decided at East Lake, and Scheffler is excited about the changes made to the Tour Championship venue.

Schauffele’s record at East Lake is significantly better than Scheffler’s, and the world number one has admitted he’s pleased to see the course changes ahead of the 2024 edition.
East Lake has undergone several renovations over the past year and will present a very different test than it did 12 months ago.
A journalist asked Scheffler during his press conference on Wednesday: “Does it seem right that no matter how well you do the next two weeks, the best you have is a two-shot lead going to East Lake, where Xander really kills it, by the way.”
Scheffler replied: “That’s why I was excited about the renovations to East Lake, cause I was like, maybe they’ll change it a little bit, and he [Schauffele] won’t have the exact same vibes because I don’t think he’s ever had a bad round there.”

If Schauffele can keep Scheffler within his sights during the St Jude and BMW Championship, the 30-year-old will stand an excellent chance of finally landing his first Tour Championship victory.
Schauffele finished on 22 under at East Lake 12 months ago, eleven shots clear of Scheffler, who had headed to Atlanta with a lead.
One year prior, in 2022, Scheffler famously squandered a last-round lead to allow Rory McIlroy to clinch his third FedEx Cup title. Schauffele finished just two shots back of the world number one despite starting the tournament several shots back.
The year prior, in 2021, Scahuffele finished tied for fifth. His record in Atlanta is sublime, and the two-time major winner will be Scheffler’s main threat when the top 25 descend on East Lake at the end of the month.
