Scottie Scheffler is really pleased with something the Travelers Championship have done to deal with one of the “biggest” issues in golf ahead of this week’s PGA Tour signature event.
The world number one is the headline act at TPC River Highlands, along with Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
Scheffler is looking to immediately return to form this week after an out-of-of-sorts display at the US Open.
The 27-year-old’s usually pinpoint iron play was far from its best, leaving the American well out of contention at Pinehurst.
After a long and arduous week in North Carolina, Scheffler is looking to land yet another victory and is pleased with one aspect of the set-up at TPC River Highlands.
Scottie Scheffler delighted with pace of play decision at the Travelers

Talking to the media ahead of this week’s event, Scheffler admitted his delight at having to play in two-balls, which should speed up his round.
“Being able to play twosomes for the week is really nice,” explained the world number one. “It’s great for pace of play. I know pace of play is a huge debate in the golf world, or at least it was before the LIV stuff all happened.
“I think the pace of play was the biggest deal in golf, and so being able to play twosomes and playing a course like this, I’m sure we’ll definitely be able to get in under four hours.”
Scheffler added: “I think playing multiple weeks in a row and having the ability to play twosomes makes it a lot easier to get guys around the golf course, especially if we are going to be asked to play numerous weeks in a row with these events.”
Scottie Scheffler back in favourable conditions this week
The world number one is back in favourable conditions this week, and will fancy his chances of landing yet another PGA Tour title.
Scheffler never looked settled during the third major of the year and was perhaps a little unsettled by Pinehurst’s unrewarding nature.
Good putts were missed, excellent approaches were still punished, and slightly wayward tee shots found the unwelcoming native areas.
TPC River Highlands is a traditional low-scoring venue which should suit the world’s best players.
Birdies and eagles are on the agenda this week, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see the world number threaten the leaderboard once more.
