Scottie Scheffler has picked the most important shot he hit in the final round at the PGA Championship last weekend.

Scheffler entered the final round with a three-shot lead, which soon evaporated after a shaky front nine at Quail Hollow.

At one point, he was tied alongside LIV Golf star Jon Rahm at nine under par, with momentum in the Spaniard’s favor.

But the world number one responded like a champion by making three birdies on the back nine and eventually won by six shots.

Scottie Scheffler names most important shots at PGA Championship

Scheffler was asked to name the most important shot towards his incredible PGA Championship victory, and he couldn’t decide between his tee shots on the short par-4 14th hole on Saturday and Sunday.

He made an eagle in the third round that kick-started his amazing run of going five under in the last five holes to take the tournament lead.

On Sunday, his birdie put distance between himself and the rest of the field, as he ultimately held on to win the championship comfortably.

“The most important shot… It’s really hard to boil it down to one. The tee shot I hit at 14 [on Saturday] was pretty nice,” Scheffler said.

“Also, the tee shot I hit at 14 again [on Sunday] was pretty nice as well. That was a really key birdie, and that hole was good to me over the weekend.”

Scottie Scheffler opens up about ‘pretty special’ PGA Championship celebrations

Scheffler also spoke about his emotional celebrations on the 18th hole after winning the PGA Championship.

The American is sometimes labelled “boring” because he doesn’t give much away on the golf course, but he certainly made his feelings clear on Sunday.

“Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. The winning feeling can be fleeting at times,” he explained while reflecting on the memorable moment.

“I felt like I did a better job this time of soaking it in, and those were some pretty cool moments for Ted and me, and then with my wife, son, and parents.

“I had Randy here as well, and Blake. Almost the whole team was here, and it was pretty special.”
