Scottie Scheffler is a lot better than everyone else in professional golf right now, it really is as simple as that.
Sure, Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are capable of fireworks, but Scheffler is consistently great.
The 28-year-old’s performance at the PGA Championship this week has been hugely impressive to watch.
Scheffler fixed a flaw in his swing after day two at the PGA Championship, and the form that he showed over the final five holes at Quail Hollow on Saturday was quite truly extraordinary.
However, he hasn’t been anywhere near his best in general this week, and that must make his performance even more scary for his rivals.

Dame Laura Davies admitted that she has been in awe of the 14-time PGA Tour winner during the first three days of the tournament.
She’s certainly not the only one who is impressed! However, the Dame does think that there is one man who can beat Scheffler on Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dame Laura Davies says only one man can beat Scottie Scheffler to win the PGA Championship
With Scheffler in this kind of form, it could very well be a procession to victory for him at the PGA Championship.
As we all know though, nothing is ever guaranteed in professional golf.
So could the two-time Masters champion really throw this away from the position that he is currently in?
Whilst Davies believes he is very much the red-hot favourite, she did tell Sky Sports in the UK that there is one man who could upset Scheffler on the final day at Quail Hollow.

She said, “Well, I feel there’s one player that can beat him, and that’s him himself, because the others can shoot low, but they’re already a long way back – the people I think might be the biggest threat.
“So if he just keeps going, he’s had three rounds in the 60s, he’s the world number one. He looks so calm last night. I know it’s only a Saturday night, and that for most players, that’s the easy bit. It’s Sunday that’s different. But Scotty seems to get better on the Sunday.
“So I can see him easily winning this unless he stumbles a bit. I can just see him cruising away from the field. It’s such a tough job for the rest. So mindset for them, maybe think about second place.“
I firmly agree with Davies there. If Scheffler produces his best stuff, he will undoubtedly win.
What would Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau have to shoot to catch Scheffler?
I am convinced that Scheffler will not post anything worse than 68 on the final day at Quail Hollow on Sunday.
And if that is the case, it will mean that Rahm has to shoot a 63 to match him, and DeChambeau will have to post a 62 to do the same.
It is by no means game over just yet. After all, anything can happen in golf.
However, it’s looking very likely that Scheffler will win the PGA Championship and subsequently take his major tally to three in the process.
He’s definitely not the sort of player to get flustered, and I don’t expect him to on the final day at Quail Hollow.
