Scottie Scheffler is the FedEx Cup champion after cruising to a big victory at East Lake this week.

Scheffler went into the Tour Championship as the overwhelming favourite anyway and he made full use of his shots in hand to win comfortably ahead of Collin Morikawa.

For Scheffler, the win at East Lake simply caps a remarkable year in which he’s won The Masters, an Olympic Gold, and multiple signature event wins.

Despite Scheffler admitting there was something unusual about his swing in the third round, there was no such issues in the final round.

He was once again under par and despite a few rocky moments earlier on, Scheffler was always in control.

It means since winning his first ever PGA Tour event in 2022, Scheffler has now racked up an incredible 13 victories on the tour.

And in doing so, he’s surpassed a record held previously by the two greatest names in the sport in Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

Everyone knows Scheffler was in for a remarkable year and over the course of 2024, he seems to have set record after record.

And now, in a statistic shared by golf analyst Justin Ray, Scheffler has another record in the bag having become the quickest player to get from one to 13 wins on the PGA Tour.

As we can see in the tweet from Ray, Scheffler has eclipsed Nicklaus’ record by some 98 days.

Scheffler is already one of the best to ever do it

While we are only a few years into the dominance of Scottie Scheffler, he could retire right now and go down as one of the best players to ever hit a golf ball.

His 2024 has been absolutely outstanding and after Rory McIlroy admitted he was clinging on early in the tournament this week, Scheffler has simply dominated.

The dominance he is displaying in sweeping through these big events is magnificent to watch and you can only imagine more major wins are to come down the line.

As for usurping the likes of Tiger and Nicklaus, well, that’s just another feather in the cap for a remarkable golfer.
