Golf fans have been tuning into the Tour Championship this weekend looking to see who finishes the season on top but one act from Sahith Theegala is dominating proceedings.
With Scottie Scheffler basically running away with the FedEx Cup and five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor, fans have been looking at other talking points.
Of course, some of the usual suspects like Rory McIlroy flagging down in the middle of the pack have caught the eye, while Viktor Hovland has risen 12 places to impress.
However, it is the actions of the popular Sahith Theegala that have really caught the eye.
Sahith Theegala takes two shot penalty with honest ruling
Notably, Theegala is one of the players at least making a fist of chasing down Scheffler and he is 17-under par.
But things could have been better for Theegala had he not called a penalty on himself on the third hole.
Remarkably, the American showed his integrity by pulling himself up by admitting he’d touched the sand with his club during his backswing.

That meant Theegala carded a double bogey six to set him back and realistically, put him out of contention.
Still, as it should be in golf, the rules were adhered to by a player on course and over on social media, fans have been loving Theegala’s honesty.
And interestingly, fans have been calling out a certain Patrick Reed in the comments.
Golf fans make Patrick Reed comparisons after Sahith Theegala’s moment of honesty
We all know social media platform X can be a hotbed of comments on matters like this and it was no different here.
Unfortunately for LIV Golf star Patrick Reed, golf fans seem to have pin-pointed him in their comparisons to Theegala.
For context, Reed has been accused of ‘cheating’ on more than one occasion in his career after a number of different issues from his junior days up to being a pro.
And golf fans have been keen to remind him of those allegations.
@Broadstreet16 labelled Theegala as the opposite of Reed, commenting:
“He’s the Anti -Patrick Reed!”
While @pilkhawk agreed with the sentiment and suggested Reed would never do the same.
“Big props to Sahith for doing everything he can to be the polar opposite of Patrick Reed.”

Some golf fans did stray away from bringing Reed into it, with praise simply for Theegala’s handling of the situation.
@Nateisawesome suggested it was minimal contact at best.
“Good on him for calling that if he felt like he did, but I’d love to see them overturn that call. If he touched anything it was maybe a couple of grains of sand and he gained no advantage.”
While @SandbeltC admitted he didn’t even realise it was a ruling in the first place!
“I didn’t even realise that was a penalty. I thought touching the sand only related to grounding the club at address. Learn something every day.”
It seems, then, that Sahith Theegala has left an impressive mark on the golfing world with his honesty.
