We’re only a few rounds into the Hero World Challenge and Scottie Scheffler is already back on form and breaking records in doing so.

Scheffler’s standout 2024 saw him constantly in the news when it came to different records being broken and he looks set to continue that into 2025.

Scheffler broke the PGA winnings record way back at the Memorial in the summer and that was just one of five records Scheffler broke in the 2024 season.

Going into 2025, Scheffler is leading the Hero by two strokes going into round three. Worryingly, Scheffler claims he’s only just getting going in what is an ominous sign for the rest of the players.

And looking at his opening two rounds in Albany, Scheffler is already breaking more records, including matching a certain Tiger Woods.

The Tiger Woods record Scottie Scheffler has just equalled at the Hero World Challenge

As we all know, Tiger Woods is the holder of multiple records on the PGA Tour and there are some which are likely to never be broken.

However, Scheffler has done his best at the Hero and after two rounds, he’s now equalled Tiger when it comes to the lowest score over two rounds.

Scheffler’s -13 is tied with Woods’ efforts from both 2007 and 2010, putting the world number one at the top of the tree.

Interestingly, and as a small caveat, the best score over two rounds at the tournament is actually Sergio Garcia’s -15 back in 2000. However, that tournament was held at Sherwood Country Club, long before the event moved to the Bahamas in 2015.

Where has the Hero World Challenge been held since 2000?

Interestingly, the tournament was actually held twice in the year 2000, with an event in January at Grayhawk won by Tom Lehman, before the tournament was moved to December and played again the same year at Sherwood, won by Davis Love III.

It remained at Sherwood until 2014, when the tournament was hosted a single time at Isleworth.

From then on in 2015, the event was moved to the Bahamas and Albany, where it continues to this day.

Some of the world’s best have won the event, with names like Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Vijay Singh all among the winners.
