Tom Kim watched on as Mike Weir’s International Team staged a remarkable Presidents Cup comeback at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Weir’s side won all five matches just hours after watching the United States take a 5-0 lead during the first day’s play.

Kim was hyped during Thursday’s action and was involved in a match against Scottie Scheffler, which had plenty of needle.

However, after losing to the world number one, Kim took aim at the Canadian support, suggesting that the atmosphere was subdued.

It appears the South Korean has had a change of heart, however. The 22-year-old acted as the International Team’s hype man on Friday, and Kim has admitted he was blown away by the improved atmosphere at Royal Montreal.

“They were unbelievable today. They definitely brought it. Obviously, these guys had to go out and play. I sat out, but the crowd, I think, plays a huge role,” Kim said post-round.

“I think the reason why we were able to play so good today, other than these guys going out and performing, was our fans backed us up. I think that gives you momentum, that gives you energy. Just they played a huge factor in our win today.”

The Canadian fans certainly heard Kim’s remarks. The atmosphere on Friday was electric, and no doubt made life hard for the United States.

The USA’s record in the Ryder Cup away from American soil is abysmal, largely due to the hostile reception they receive whenever they travel across the Atlantic.

Those at Royal Montreal must make life as difficult as possible for the US stars over the next two days. If the visitors struggle to cope, there’s every chance of Weir’s side claiming victory for the first time in 26 years.

As Saturday’s action gets underway, Kim is back in action alongside Si Woo Kim, who is taking on Wyndham Clark and Keegan Bradley.
