YouTube golf sensation Peter Finch has weighed in on the ongoing DP World Tour-LIV Golf saga.

Currently, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are fighting to ensure their eligibility for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Both players owe outstanding fines to the DP World Tour and have lodged appeals to ensure their participation in upcoming events and maintain their membership.

However, after the PGA announced that LIV players would be eligible for the Bethpage Black event, Finch believes the DP World Tour should make a similar decision.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Rough Cut Podcast, Finch pondered with the idea of the DP World Tour doing something “drastic” to get Rahm and Hatton back on the team.

The YouTube star asked, ” Does the DP World Tour need to do something drastic so we can get Tyrrell and Rahm back on the team?”

“Personally? Yes. I have always found it weird why the DP World Tour have been so inflexible around what LIV are doing.”

Finch continued: “Because they were unable to compete with the PGA Tour to get the best players on the DP World Tour. They are now acting as a feeder for the PGA Tour.

“And they don’t have the financial clout to compete with LIV. LIV have continuously tried to get in with the DP World Tour. The original concept behind the scenes, the first conversation people behind LIV were having, is whether we can do a partnership with the DP World Tour.

“Can we make a truly global tour with some of the infrastructure that the European Tour already has? The DP World Tour decided that at that time, their best ploy was to team up with the PGA Tour in a strategic partnership.”

PGA decision could see the DP World Tour act

The PGA’s decision to allow American LIV stars back into the Ryder Cup fold could force the DP World Tour’s hand.

The beauty of the Ryder Cup is that it goes far beyond where a player plies his trade. It’s Europe vs. the USA; allegiances should be put aside.

Ultimately, it’s golf fans who are being punished.

The 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will be a far better event if Rahm and Hatton are present on Luke Donald’s side. It’s now up to the DP World Tour to make a drastic U-turn.
