Patrick Reed just finished playing in his fourth DP World Tour event in six weeks at the Spanish Open.

Reed has always enjoyed playing on the DP World Tour, but especially now that he competes in the LIV Golf league.

The 2025 LIV Golf season ended with the Team Championship in Michigan at the end of August, leaving him with plenty of time to participate in other tournaments.

The American started the event in Madrid strongly and was only five shots behind 54-hole leader Marco Penge before the final day.

Unfortunately, Reed’s last round at the Spanish Open started terribly and quickly ruled him out of contention.

Patrick Reed’s nightmare start to Spanish Open final round

Reed said after the Spanish Open third round that he would need a quick start on Sunday to apply some pressure on the leaders.

“We still have a chance – an outside shot. Go out and make some birdies early, put some pressure on them, and see how low we can go,” he told the DP World Tour website.

Well, Reed endured the opposite of his intentions as he made a double bogey on the first hole of a shocking front nine at the Club de Campo.

He made four consecutive bogeys from holes four to seven to take his final round score to six over par and make even a top-10 finish impossible.

Reed battled well on the back nine to rescue his score to just two over par and nine under for the tournament, but he will still be bitterly disappointed.

Patrick Reed’s recent DP World Tour results

Reed played in his first DP World Tour event since the LIV Golf season at the Irish Open in September, where Rory McIlroy won after a spectacular playoff.

He only finished T50 at The K Club, but he immediately improved the following week at the BMW PGA Championship.

Reed shared third place with Aaron Rai at Wentworth as European Ryder Cup vice captain Alex Noren won the title.

The 35-year-old finished 32nd at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last weekend before coming 16th at the Spanish Open.

Reed has decided not to play in next week’s DP World Tour India Championship alongside McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Viktor Hovland.
