The Presidents Cup is under two weeks away, and one of Jim Furyk’s picks has failed to find form at the Procore Championship.
Furyk’s 12-man United States team was completed at the start of September after Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Tony Finau, Brian Harman and Sam Burns were picked for the Royal Montreal event.
Justin Thomas was the highest-profile name to miss out after showing signs of his former self toward the back end of the season.
Furyk’s selection of Homa has been criticised, as has Bradley’s ‘odd’ inclusion. Homa has struggled with his driving during the second half of the season, and the American opted to play this week’s Procore Championship in a bid to find form. Unfortunately, things couldn’t have gone worse.
Max Homa and Wyndham Clark miss cut at Procore Championship ahead of the Presidents Cup

Homa carded a one-under 71 on Thursday before carding an up-and-down level par second round to miss the cut by two shots.
The American needed a birdie on the par-five 18th to make the weekend after picking up three consecutive shots. However, the 33-year-old went on to make a bogey and see his week cut short.
Another USA star who failed to make the weekend was Wyndham Clark. The 2023 US Open winner finished two over after carding a 76 on Friday, which included an eight on the par-five fifth.
Fans react to Max Homa’s miserable Procore Championship outing
Unsurprisingly, USA fans are less than pleased with Homa’s outing in Napa. “Max Homa, in likely his last start before the Presidents Cup, missed the cut by 2. Now been ten events since his last top-20 finish. Form in a rough spot heading into Royal Montreal,” wrote popular journalist Dan Rapaport.
“Homa has NO business on that team,” another added. While a fellow fan said: “Watching @Maxhoma and @Wyndham_Clark finish poorly and miss cut at Silverado CC in Napa cannot be what @PresidentsCup Captain @jimfuryk wanted to see.”
Finally, this fan asked Homa to take matters into his own hands. “If Homa had any self respect he’d remove himself from the presidents cup team,” they wrote.
