Nelly Korda reveals what she was given by a fan at the Olympics which is now on her bag

Nelly Korda is in contention at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the world number one was given an interesting gift by a fan on day three at Le Golf National.

The atmosphere at the 2018 Ryder Cup venue has been a talking point this week, with several players praising the enthusiastic patrons. Korda has also been wowed by the support she’s received during the first three days.

Korda, who is part of an American trio in Paris, currently sits five back of the lead after carding a consecutive round of 70. Morgane Metraux leads the way on nine under, with Lydia Ko and Rose Zhang in close pursuit.

The world number one, however, will still fancy her chances of landing consecutive titles, and if Korda does triumph, she will do so with a new addition to her bag.

Speaking after her round, Korda revealed that a fan had given her a keychain as she made her way down the first hole.

“I got a keychain that same guy gave me going down to the first tee and that’s on my bag, a Pikachu,” Korda explained.

The world number one went to reveal the reason behind the Pokemon-themed gift. “I dressed up as Pikachu when I was little for Halloween,” she added.

Since missing the cut at the US Open, it’s been far from plain sailing for Korda; in fact, her Olympic performance is arguably her most impressive outing for months.

Her recent form hasn’t been reminiscent of a world number one.

Yet, if she lands a medal in Paris, her current woes will no doubt be forgotten about. And if she were to win the gold, the golfing world would once again laud Korda as one of the game’s great players.

As Scheffler demonstrated, the elite stars perform consistently at the top level, and it’s now up to Korda to follow suit if she genuinely wants to be the woman to dominate.
