Nelly Korda has made a positive start to the JM Eagle LA Championship, sitting on three-under after round one.
But low-scoring from her fellow LPGA Tour players means American star Korda occupies T15 in the leaderboard.
Korda congratulated Rory McIlroy on winning The Masters last week, where he completed the career grand slam.
The PGA Tour has moved on to the RBC Heritage, but Korda is firmly focused on the LPGA Tour, with the 26-year-old currently the leading player in women’s golf.
Korda does, however, have work to do to climb the leaderboard at the JM Eagle at El Caballero Country Club.

Nelly Korda hits all 18 greens in regulation in JM Eagle LA Championship first round
But she is only four shots off the pace heading into round two, with Ashleigh Buhai and Liu Yan both on seven-under.
Moreover, Korda should gain great confidence from a simply superb feat in round one, having hit all 18 greens in regulation, as per Justin Ray.
Helping her to an opening-round 67, it is the first time Korda has hit every green in an LPGA Tour round since the second round of the BMW Ladies Championship in 2023.
Nelly Korda not feeling ‘too great’ about one area of her game at JM Eagle LA Championship
Korda is making her fifth start of the 2025 LPGA Tour season at the JM Eagle, with a 16th career win being chased.
But she has yet to win this season, posting finishes of 2, T7, T22 and T28 from her four appearances to date.

She is, however, excited to build on her positive start in Los Angeles, having been asked for her thoughts on her first round and the course.
“Yeah, it was great,” she said. “Hit 18 out of 18 greens, so my bogeys were three putts, which I’ve made one on the last hole, so I am not feeling too great about that.
“But other than that, I mean, I played really solid off the tee and into the greens. Hopefully I can keep that going into the next few days.”
And asked about her four successive birdies, she replied: “Yeah, just kind of got it rolling. Had a lot of really good numbers into the greens and hit it pretty close, within ten feet, and just rolled them in.”
