Tyrrell Hatton will be the latest PGA Tour star to make the move over to LIV Golf as he joins Jon Rahm’s team on the Saudi backed tour.
Hatton has been rumoured to be on his way to LIV for some time but recently denied any decision has been made over his future.
However, a report from The Telegraph this morning has confirmed that Hatton is indeed joining LIV in a deal worth around £50m to him personally. He will join Rahm’s team and be yet another big name to make the leap ahead of the 2024 season.
And beyond just the LIV and PGA Tour still being at loggerheads, The Telegraph reports on how Hatton’s switch could give Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald a major headache.
Luke Donald faces Tyrrell Hatton problem after LIV move
The report suggests that Hatton’s move, along with Rahm being on the LIV tour, will give Donald a huge problem when it comes to his Ryder Cup selections.
It’s suggested that the move from Hatton will encourage Donald to push for a rule change when it comes to selection for the tournament in the USA in 2025.

At the moment, LIV players cannot compete in the Ryder Cup. But with Rahm and Hatton both being among the world’s top 25 players, it’s a huge blow for Donald if he cannot select either.
The reports also details how Hatton is unlikely to give up his DP World Tour card. However, the current rules and regulations in place would make it almost impossible for Hatton to automatically qualify for the team based on his DP performance.
There have been talks of a potential merger or deal being announced between the DP Tour, PGA Tour, and PIF in the coming weeks.
Quite what that looks like, remains to be seen.
But Europe will need Rahm and Hatton if they are to have any chance over at Bethpage.
Once again, then, it seems like the golfing world is in for a big shake up.
