LIV Golf could be set for a huge signing after making another move for Tyrell Hatton, according to reports.
Hatton has long been rumoured to be one of the players LIV have their eyes on and with their season just a few weeks away from teeing off, it looks like moves are being made.
Reports tonight from The Times have said that DP World Tour player of the year Adrian Meronk is set to sign on with LIV.
And according to another report from Sports Illustrated, Tyrell Hatton won’t be too far behind.
Tyrell Hatton close to joining LIV Golf
According to the report from SI, another run has been made at Hatton from the LIV deal makers and according to their sources, a deal is now close but not yet confirmed.
It’s suggested Hatton would move to join Jon Rahm’s new-look team and form one of the best duos on that current tour.
Hatton has spoken in the last few weeks of how he is content for now playing the DP and PGA Tours.
However, rumours have been rife for some time now and it looks like a move could be happen.
Rahm’s move opens the floodgates
It was said at the time but Jon Rahm’s move over to LIV felt like a watershed moment and now plenty seem to following his lead.
In fairness to the like of Hatton and Meronk, you can’t really blame them now. The floodgates have opened and with the PGA and PIF open to dealing with each other going forward, it’s only a matter of time before none of this will matter anyway.
Hatton, like Rahm, is probably cashing in some guaranteed money before looking forward to the inevitable and eventual merger of sorts.
However, it can’t be discounted that this is a blow, especially for the DP Tour, who count Hatton as one of their stars.
Players like Rory McIlroy will be looking on with interest now and there’s definitely going to be more twists and turns in the LIV saga as time moves on.
